On May 8, the Senior Choir of St. Michael’s Choir School joined the choirs of Cardinal Carter Academy for the Arts for the first Marian Concert of sacred music at St. Michael's Cathedral Basilica. The concert, titled Salve Regina, marked the first collaboration between the two acclaimed Toronto school choirs.

Held during the month of May, traditionally dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary, the concert featured a Marian-themed program celebrating devotion to Our Lady through sacred choral works. The repertoire included Ave Maria by Franz Biebl, Ave Maris Stella by Edvard Grieg, and Ave Verum by St. Michael’s Choir School Music Director Joshua Tamayo. Together, the selections reflected both the beauty of the spring season and the Church’s longstanding musical tradition honouring the Blessed Mother. The evening welcomed a large gathering of families, friends and the faithful.

His Eminence Frank Cardinal Leo attended the concert and expressed his appreciation for the evening’s program of sacred music, collaboration, and Marian devotion.

This inaugural collaboration marks the beginning of what will become an annual tradition.
